The Kentucky Penal Code creates the following offense classifications:
Classification Penalty
- Class D felony 1-5 years imprisonment; fines of $1,000 to $10,000, or double the gain from the commission of the offense and up to $20,000 for corporations
- Class A Misdemeanor Up to 12 months imprisonment and/or fine up to $500, and up to $10,000 for corporations
- Class B Misdemeanor Up to 90 days imprisonment and/or fine up to $250, and up to $5,000 for corporations
- Violation Defined as "any offense defined outside this code for which a law outside this Code provides a sentence to a fine only or to any other punishment, whether in combination with a fine or not, other than death or imprisonment. . .." The fine for a violation is set at $250, and up to $500 for a corporation
